What: Letters to the Editor (LTE) Workshop
When: Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, 8 pm ET | 5 pm PT
Join the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers for Environmental Action in our Letters to the Editor (LTE) campaign. Each month we write letters to our local papers in support of climate solutions policy. Anyone is welcome to join to write on any topic!
This month we will continue our support of the FOREST act. The Fostering Overseas Rule of law and Environmentally Sound Trade (FOREST) Act was first introduced in the 117th congress to combat illegal global deforestation. The bill received strong bipartisan support, but never got prioritized for a vote. The bill restricts the import of illegally harvested timber products and establishes a purchasing preference for deforestation free products in the federal government.
