Summer is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. Not only is it fun, but research confirms that spending time in nature is good for your physical and mental health. It decreases stress, facilitates healing, and some claim it can even enhance empathy. This article published by the American Psychological Association discusses how time in nature improves mental health and cognition.  Another article, Ecopsychology: How Immersion in Nature Benefits Your Health published at YaleEnviornment360, shares that people who spent two hours per week in green spaces reported good health and psychological wellbeing.

The New York State Department of Environment Conservation implores you to, Immerse Yourself In A Forest For Better Health; the article cites multiple health benefits from forests, including a boost to the immune system, lower blood pressure, and reduced stress. Perhaps you want to try forest bathing, mentioned in 12 Scientific Benefits of Being Outdoors on WildernessRedefined.com.

Recreation.gov offers diverse ideas to help you find your next outdoor adventure.
